The great benefit of our chromatic alginate is that it is relatively slow setting. Start to finish of the moulding process it takes 3 minutes. This takes the panic out of the mixing process.

The Chromatic Alginate is super skinsafe and can be used on the youngest child as designed for use in the mouth. It changes colour as you work with it telling you which stage you should be at from mixing to applying to setting.

 

EXTRA ITEMS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CASTINGS

• a beater or an electric hand whisk
• a mixing bowl to mix the alginate in
• a disposable container to mix the plaster in (like an old ice cream tub that you can throw away afterwards)
• a container that the hand or foot will be plunged into.  This can be something from the kitchen like a yoghurt pot (for a baby hand or a paw cast) or a plastic jug or similar for an adult hand cast – basically pick a container that is just bigger than the hands/feet/paw you are casting so the hand, foot or paw can be placed fully inside it without touching the sides.  You don’t want something too big or it will use too much alginate….
